YouTube Music introduces AI feature to customize playlist artwork
YouTube Music has unveiled a new AI feature that allows listeners to personalize the artwork of their playlists. This feature is part of a series of updates focused on enhancing personalization within the streaming app.
Customize playlist art with generative AI
Users can now take advantage of generative AI to design custom artwork for their playlists directly on the playlist page. Previously, playlist artwork displayed a grid of four album covers, but now, users can tap on the edit tool below the artwork to access themes like landscapes, animals, and travel. They can further customize the artwork by selecting different text prompts and art styles such as Pop Art and Medieval Gothic. Once satisfied with the design, users can save it and enjoy their personalized playlist art.
Global rollout of AI-generated playlist art
Although AI-generated playlist art is currently only available in the U.S. in English, YouTube Music plans to expand this feature to other regions and languages worldwide. Additionally, the streaming service has introduced other AI-driven features like Samples, integrated comments, and a radio station tuner, with a “speed dial” module set to launch in the near future.
Competitor Spotify also embraces AI
In a bid to stay competitive, Spotify, YouTube Music’s main rival, has also integrated AI features into its platform. These include an “AI DJ” and automated translations of podcasts into various languages.
As the music streaming industry continues to evolve, AI-driven enhancements offer users more personalized and engaging experiences. With YouTube Music and Spotify leading the way, listeners can expect even more innovative features in the future.
