In 2021, Xiaomi unveiled the CyberDog, a futuristic “open source quadruped robot companion.” This robotic beast may seem straight out of a sci-fi movie where robots dominate, but fear not! The company has now introduced the CyberDog 2, a less intimidating version with a nod to a real dog’s appearance.
Introducing the CyberDog 2
Originally announced in 2023, Xiaomi showcased the CyberDog 2 at MWC Barcelona, demonstrating its capabilities. While I didn’t get to play fetch with these robotic dogs, I witnessed a mesmerizing display as four CyberDogs 2 danced, wiggled, and even did backflips in perfect sync.
Xiaomi’s Latest Innovation
The CyberDog 2 boasts 19 sensors for vision, touch, and hearing, allowing it to make decisions autonomously. Designed to mimic a real dog’s movements and interactions, this robotic companion is sure to turn heads. Plus, like its predecessor, the CyberDog 2 remains open-source, inviting developers to create new apps for it.
The Sticker Price
But here’s the catch – the CyberDog 2 comes with a hefty price tag of $3,000. While you could potentially adopt multiple real dogs for that amount, can they perform acrobatics like this robotic wonder? We think not!
So, if you’re intrigued by cutting-edge tech and the future of robotics, keep an eye on Xiaomi and their innovative creations like the CyberDog 2.
