TikTok’s New Label Feature for AI-Generated Content
TikTok is implementing a new label feature to ensure that creators properly disclose any AI-generated content in their posts. This feature, located under “more options” when uploading a video, includes a toggle for “AI-generated content”. Creators are now required to use this label to prevent content removal, as TikTok reserves the right to take down any content that is not properly labelled.
TikTok’s Stance on Deepfake Videos
In 2020, TikTok banned deepfake videos on their platform, citing them as “Digital Forgeries” that mislead users and cause harm to individuals or society. Recently, a viral deepfake of Joe Rogan was removed from the platform. This move aligns with TikTok’s commitment to maintaining integrity and transparency in content creation.
Just last week, Instagram was reported to be working on similar labels for AI-generated content. These labels, when implemented, will serve a similar purpose as TikTok’s labels and help users better understand the origins of AI-edited content.
