In the latest episode of “The White Lotus” Season 3, Rick finally confronts Jim, the man he believes killed his father. But surprise surprise, the confrontation doesn’t go down the violent road we all expected. This just confirms my wild theory about Jim – who is this guy really? Are we done with him or is there more to the story? Let’s put on our detective hats like Poirot and see if I’m right by the finale.
What happens in “The White Lotus” Season 3, episode 7?
Rick and Frank manage to sneak their way into the White Lotus owners’ residence in Bangkok, pretending to be a Hollywood producer/director duo pitching a fake movie. Rick has been building up to this meeting all season, convinced that Jim is responsible for his father’s death. In a tense moment, Rick finally confronts Jim about his father’s murder, but things don’t go quite as expected.
What do we know about Rick’s father’s death?
We’ve heard Rick talk about his father’s mysterious disappearance and presumed murder, with Jim Hollinger being the prime suspect. But is there more to this story than meets the eye? Could Jim actually be Rick’s father? My theory is that Rick’s father is alive and well, and he’s right in front of us. Twist alert!
Is Jim Hollinger Rick’s actual father?
I propose a radical idea – what if Rick’s father is not dead, but is actually Jim Hollinger? Plot twist! This could explain the complex dynamics between Rick and Jim, adding a whole new layer to their already strained relationship. Who knows what secrets will be revealed in the upcoming episodes? Stay tuned!
So, here’s the theory: Jim Hollinger is actually Rick’s dad. Rick’s mother, heartbroken from Jim leaving her before Rick was born, possibly lied to her son on her deathbed as a final act of revenge. Rick has no other information about his father other than he was “a good man” and that he was murdered by some guy called Jim Hollinger who owns a fancy hotel in Thailand. But there’s no mention of his father’s name or any photograph.
When Rick arrives at the Hollingers’ estate, you could argue Jim recognizes something familiar or sees a resemblance to Gloria. Glenn’s performance here is ambiguous, but he looks at Rick like he knows him; meanwhile, Rick is in shock realizing the man he imagined is not what he expected.
During their confrontation in the den, Jim’s reactions are unclear, leaning towards not remembering. Is it an act? When Jim says Rick’s mother’s name – “Gloria Hatchett” – back to Rick, it feels like a revelation to him. Maybe Jim remembers Gloria in that moment, but before he can process it, Rick points a gun at him.
Is Jim really Rick’s dad? Why did Gloria give Rick Jim’s name on her deathbed? Does Sritala know something? Could Rick have sisters?! Hopefully, we’ll get some answers in the finale, where we can finally put the Hatchett mystery to rest.
