Meta Quest 3: A Comparative Analysis with Quest 3.5 Following Latest Update Incorporating Three Novel Features

The Quest 3 is receiving a series of new features that are so significant that it could be dubbed the Quest 3.5. In a recent Meta blog post, the social media tech giant announced the release of a new update called “v60.” This update is designed to introduce game-changing enhancements aimed at improving the virtual reality experience for users.

### 3 new updates coming to Quest VR headsets

The v60 update from Meta is also being rolled out to Quest 2 and Quest Pro VR headsets. Users can expect to benefit from these new features and improvements.

#### 1. Performance upgrade

Meta is implementing a performance upgrade for the Quest Pro by enabling higher clock speeds for the device’s CPU and GPU, especially when running mixed-reality applications. The enhancements include a reported 34% increase in CPU speed, a 19% increase in GPU speed, smoother performance when using mixed-reality apps, and better responsiveness. These improvements will not only benefit users but also provide developers with new opportunities to create apps that leverage the enhanced performance.

#### 2. New homes

In addition to the existing home environments available to Quest users, Meta is introducing three new environments: Blue Hill Gold Mine, Storybook, and Lakeside Peak. These environments offer users a variety of settings to explore and enjoy while using their Quest headsets. Furthermore, Meta is enhancing the Boundary feature, which helps users identify the boundaries of their play space, making it easier to navigate and use their VR devices.

#### 3. Find out what you and other Quest users have in common

A new feature called “Profile Power-Up” allows users to discover shared experiences and connections with other Quest users. By visiting other users’ profiles, you can see mutual friends, shared apps, and other commonalities. Users have the option to keep this information private if desired. The v60 update is currently being rolled out by Meta, so users are advised to be patient if they have not yet received the update as it will be available soon.
