Meta shakes things up with AI labels on Instagram and Facebook following criticism.

Meta Updates Label for AI-Generated Content

Meta has recently made changes to how AI-generated content is identified on its platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. In a statement released on July 1, the tech giant announced that they are now using the label “AI Info” instead of “Made with AI” to better address the use of AI in creating photos and videos on Meta apps. This decision comes after criticism from creatives, photographers, and users who were confused about the previous label.

Industry Standard Indicators

According to Meta, they are relying on “industry standard indicators” to provide more context and alignment with users’ expectations. The updated blog post acknowledges that previous labels may not have been clear enough, leading to misunderstandings. The new label aims to indicate content that has been made or modified using AI technology.
