The brand-new 2024 iPad Pro was revealed at Apple’s “Let Loose” event on May 7. Available in 11-inch and 13-inch models, the new iPad Pro packs a punch with its M4 chip, a whole generation ahead of its predecessor’s M2 chip.
Apple proudly touts the new iPad Pro as being unbelievably thin — like “iPod Nano” thin. I had the opportunity to play around with the new iPad Pro models briefly, and I must say, these tablets are incredibly slim and lightweight.
But what really caught my attention was the nano-texture glass model, which I’ll delve into a bit later.
### The new iPad Pro’s slim design left me in awe
When Apple claimed that the iPad Pro is “impossibly thin,” with the 11-inch and 13-inch versions measuring at 5.3mm and 5.1mm thick, respectively, I couldn’t quite believe it until I held them myself.
As they were displayed, the iPad Pro models seemed to vanish when viewed from the sides.
And when I finally got to hold them in my hands, I was amazed at how something so powerful could be so lightweight.
The 13-inch iPad Pro weighs just 1.28 pounds, while the 11-inch variant comes in at under a pound (0.9 pounds).
### The revolutionary nano-texture glass model
If you’re tired of your iPad screen acting up in challenging lighting conditions, the nano-texture glass model might be the solution you’re looking for with its matte finish.
I noticed a significant reduction in glare when standing in a brightly lit area with the nano-texture glass model, only available in the 1TB and 2TB storage options.
However, this model is best suited for professionals who require a highly visible screen on the go, with prices starting at $1,699 for the 11-inch model and $2,099 for the 13-inch variant.
As shown in the photo, there are indeed some trade-offs with the nano-texture glass model, as the version without it offers a richer display.
### The stunning ‘Tandem OLED’ iPad Pro
Featuring a new “Tandem OLED” display, the iPad Pro now boasts two OLED displays layered on top of each other. The result? A breathtakingly immersive screen with top-notch brightness levels (peaking at 1,600 nits).
Dubbed as an “Ultra Retina XDR display,” the iPad Pro’s screen looked absolutely stunning in person.
That’s not all — there’s now a “Space Black” iPad Pro available, along with a matching Magic Keyboard. The 11-inch model starts at $999, while the 13-inch variant is priced at $1,299 and comes in both Space Black and Silver color options. Let’s hope the Space Black trend extends to the iPhone lineup soon!
