Google’s new AI bot can call businesses for you to check prices and availability

For those who dread making boring phone calls, Google has a solution with AI. The tech giant recently unveiled “Ask for me,” an experiment in its Search Labs testing ground for Google Search. This feature uses AI to call local businesses on your behalf and inquire about pricing and availability. While currently limited to nail salons and local mechanics for standard car maintenance, more businesses are expected to be added soon.

AI Making Life Easier

Google, like many others in the AI industry, is embracing agentic experiences with its latest features. From automating information-gathering calls to acting as a research assistant, Google is focused on making your life easier. The Gemini tool is integrated with the latest Samsung Galaxy and Pixel phones, offering features like pulling together information, creating calendar events, and sending messages.

By enrolling in Search Labs, you can test out these experiments and provide feedback to improve Google’s AI models. Simply toggle on the experiment, choose the type of business you’re inquiring about, provide relevant information, and select your preferred method of receiving a response.
