Google adds some flavor with new memories feature on Gemini chatbot, outsmarting Anthropic

Back in February, Google introduced memories to Gemini, allowing it to recall past chats. Now, Google has unveiled a more personalized chat feature called Personal Context. This function enables Gemini to learn your preferences over time and generate responses tailored to you.

Gemini will now remember your likes and dislikes, using this information to suggest ideas when you need them. For example, if you mention your favorite comic book to Gemini, it may recommend it as a theme for a themed birthday party and even suggest related party games and food.

This update is a step up from the previous memory functions of Gemini. Instead of having to explicitly ask Gemini to refer back to past chats, it now continuously learns from your interactions and adjusts its responses accordingly. The more you chat with Gemini, the better it gets at understanding your preferences.

Google is rolling out Personal Context today, with a full release expected over the next few weeks. Initially available in Gemini 2.5 Pro in select countries, the feature will later expand to Gemini 2.5 Flash and other regions. Stay tuned for more personalized chats with Gemini!
