Elon Musk’s AI Startup xAI
Elon Musk has made another contribution to the AI world with his startup xAI, which provides the Grok chatbot integrated into X (formerly Twitter). This week, xAI officially launched its API, allowing users to access Grok’s services for a price of $5 per million input tokens or $15 per million output tokens.
The Mysterious Grok API
It is unclear what exactly users are getting when they pay for the Grok API. The current available model is labeled “grok-beta,” leaving questions about whether it is the latest model, Grok-2, or not. Additionally, there may be models for image and text analysis in the works, but they have not been made live yet.
Grok’s Integration with X
Grok made its way into X last year, becoming a fully integrated chatbot accessible to X Premium users through a tab at the bottom of the screen. Its unique selling point is its lack of restraint compared to other chatbots, leading to some controversial outputs over the past year.
