DOGE AI Tool Pushes Controversial Tech Agenda in Federal Government

Even though Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has taken a step back from the spotlight, the so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) is still making waves with its AI tool within the federal government. According to The Washington Post, DOGE is using this tool to identify and eliminate regulations en masse, aiming to cut half of all federal regulations by September 1. The tool, known as the “DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool,” has already flagged 100,000 of 200,000 federal rules for potential deletion.

AI Accuracy Concerns Arise

Despite its ambitious goals, the accuracy of the AI tool is coming into question. HUD employees have reported that the tool frequently misunderstands legal language and misidentifies rules. This raises concerns about the reliability of the tool in making important policy decisions.

The Deregulation Decision Tool is just one of DOGE’s AI-driven projects under the Trump administration. Other initiatives include overhauling the U.S. General Services Administration with an AI-first approach, monitoring EPA communications for specific content, and using AI to write code for the Department of Veterans Affairs — a project that has encountered numerous bugs and errors.
