It’s no surprise that getting your hands on Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 graphics cards is really tough. The highly-anticipated GPUs officially launched on January 30th, but Nvidia warned of delays and backorders. Retailers are already running low or out of stock for the GeForce RTX 50 series, with PowerGPU even warning that availability may be scarce for the first 3 months.
Retailer sites like Newegg, B&H, and BestBuy are already out of stock, and UK retailer Overclockers reported low stock numbers for the RTX 5090 and 5080. Retailers in Korea are also expecting delays until mid-February.
Nvidia, a giant in the GPU industry, supplies critical chips for gaming and top AI models. Early reviews describe the GeForce RTX 5090 as “exceptionally powerful but forbiddingly expensive,” and note that it’s the GPU to get for Nvidia’s vision of an AI gaming future. However, with the high price tag of $2,000, even if you’re willing to pay, it looks like you’ll have to wait.
