X is planning a redesign that will remove interaction and engagement buttons from posts, such as repost, like, and reply buttons. Instead, users will swipe left or right to like or reply to a post. The only visible metric will be view count in the upper right corner of the post.
Musk has been wanting to remove repost and like buttons since he acquired X in October 2022. He has already made likes private and now plans to remove all action buttons with interaction counts from the main timeline.
If the change proves to be disastrous, Musk has indicated that they will change it back.
