Apple’s AirPods Max are now even better with lossless audio support!

Apple’s AirPods Max now support lossless audio

It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally here: Apple’s AirPods Max over-the-ear headphones now support lossless audio. The announcement of this upgrade was made in late March, and the new firmware for the AirPods Max is now available, bringing support for lossless audio and ultra-low latency audio to these premium headphones.

Upgrade details and requirements

To get this upgrade, make sure you have the latest firmware version 7E99 installed on your USB-C AirPods Max. Additionally, you’ll need to update the device you’re using as an audio source (iPhone, iPad, or Mac) to iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, or macOS Sequoia 15.4, respectively. It’s important to note that this upgrade is only available for the USB-C version of AirPods Max released last September, not for earlier versions with Apple’s proprietary Lightning port.

Once you’ve completed the upgrade, you’ll be able to enjoy lossless audio up to 24-bit, 48 kHz quality on your AirPods Max. Musicians will appreciate the ultra-low latency audio for recording and mixing music, while gamers will benefit from seamless audio synchronization during gameplay.
