Apple TV+ Subscription Price Increase
Apple TV+ subscribers will soon experience a 30 percent increase in their monthly subscription fee. Effective immediately, Apple has raised the monthly price from $6.99 to $9.99. This marks the first price hike since October 2022 when the service was originally priced at $4.99 per month. Additionally, subscribers who opt for the annual model will also see their prices raised from $69 to $99.
Additional Price Changes Across Apple’s Subscription Services
In addition to the Apple TV+ price increase, Apple has announced several other price adjustments across its subscription services. Apple News+ will see a price increase from $9.99 to $12.99, while Apple Arcade will go from $4.99 to $6.99 per month. Furthermore, the entire Apple One bundle, which includes all these services, is also experiencing price hikes:
- Individual: $16.95 per month to $19.95 per month
- Family: $22.95 per month to $25.95 per month
- Premier: $32.95 per month to $37.95 per month
Apple’s Strategic Plans and Industry Trends
While news of price increases may not be well-received by consumers, it appears that Apple has been strategically preparing for this move. Recent reports suggest that the company is working on a significant overhaul of its TV app, aiming to transform it into a comprehensive streaming hub. Apple envisions the TV app as a centralized platform for shows, movies, rentals, and more—a role reminiscent of what iTunes served before the rise of streaming services. Notably, Apple’s price adjustments align with similar moves by industry peers like Netflix and Disney, reflecting broader trends in the streaming market.
