Twitter introduces video and audio calling feature: a user guide

Ever engaged in a debate on X and wished you could engage with a troll through video and audio format? Well, now you can for a fee of $8 per month, thanks to X, previously known as Twitter, which has recently introduced its video call feature. This new feature was first noticed by users on Wednesday evening. The option to make calls is exclusive to subscribers of X Premium, the paid service formerly known as Twitter Blue. However, subscribers can call any user on X, provided the recipient has previously sent a direct message.

How to make a call on Twitter / X

To make a call, X Premium subscribers need to go to their direct message inbox, select a conversation with a user, click on the phone icon, and choose between an audio or video call. Users must ensure they have the latest version of the X app installed. Currently, the call feature is only accessible on iOS devices, with an Android rollout in the pipeline.

The impact of this new feature on X’s struggling paid subscription service remains uncertain. Previous feature additions, such as monetization, have not significantly increased subscriber numbers. Despite potential limitations, the introduction of a new feature is noteworthy. Users should be aware that the feature is still in beta testing, and bugs may be present.
