X is once again making changes to Community Notes.
The @CommunityNotes account recently announced a new pilot test where users can select posts that are liked by individuals with differing viewpoints. For example, a post that both Andrew Cuomo and Zohran Mamdani like, or a post liked by both a cat lover and a dog lover.
New Experimental Feature
The aim of this experimental feature is to highlight agreement on contentious topics and bridge perspectives. By uncovering ideas and opinions that resonate broadly, it could encourage people to share their thoughts and contribute to moving the world forward.
As of July 25, select contributors can also rate posts by answering questions about why they like or dislike a particular post. These ratings will now have a visible effect for others in the pilot, with posts that receive positive ratings showing a callout indicating they are liked by people from different perspectives.
If users with opposing viewpoints both agree on the accuracy of a fact-check, then that note will be published to the public. The feature is still in its early stages and will be gradually expanded as the open-source algorithm is refined.
For more information on the algorithm and to share feedback, users can visit the GitHub account linked by the @CommunityNotes account.
