Google could potentially allow users to utilize their Pixel phone as a dashcam.

Unannounced “Dashcam” Feature for Pixel Phones

It has been discovered that Pixel phones may soon have a built-in dashcam feature, as analyzed by 9to5Google. By enabling this feature, users can mount their Pixel on their car’s dashboard to record their journey while still being able to use the phone or lock the screen.

Although it is technically possible to manually record videos by mounting a phone, the new dashcam feature offers some advantages. One notable feature is the ability to automatically start and stop recording when the Pixel connects to a specific Bluetooth access point, typically the user’s car. Additionally, recordings are set to be deleted after three days unless specifically saved, helping to manage storage space efficiently.

Impending Release

According to 9to5Google, the dashcam feature appears to be well-developed and ready for release. It is anticipated that an official announcement regarding this feature may be made in the coming weeks or even days, indicating that users might already possess the necessary hardware for a dashcam without knowing it.
