Tesla introduces more affordable version of Model Y

Tesla has introduced a new variant of its Model Y electric SUV in the U.S., offering a more affordable option for consumers. The Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive starts at $44,990 before tax credits and incentives, compared to the Long Range All-Wheel Drive version which starts at $48,990. This new variant features just one motor powering the rear axle, resulting in slightly slower acceleration but a longer range of 357 miles.

With the federal tax credit of $7,500, the price of the Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive drops to $37,490. Deliveries are expected to start within three to five weeks, providing a more budget-friendly option for potential buyers. Despite facing a challenging quarter, Tesla hopes that this cheaper version of their popular Model Y will help boost sales, especially in Europe where sales have declined. The company continues to innovate and adapt to market demands in the electric vehicle industry.
