The White House is gearing up to drop the next big AI bombshell, this time taking a swing at “woke” AI models. According to the Wall Street Journal, President Trump’s crew is getting ready to roll out a set of executive orders, with one aimed at making sure government agencies keep their AI models politically neutral. This move comes as a response to concerns from conservatives who think certain AI models are leaning too far to the left.
The Trump administration’s push against “woke” AI models is being spearheaded by AI Czar David Sacks and White House policy adviser Sriram Krishnan. Sacks, who has been critical of companies like OpenAI for allegedly biasing their ChatGPT model, is leading the charge. Interestingly, Elon Musk’s xAI company is also in the mix, promoting its Grok chatbot as a less “woke” alternative.
But, as with any political drama, things aren’t so simple. Musk and Trump are currently at odds, which could complicate matters. And let’s not forget that bias in AI is a tricky subject, with even models deemed too liberal showing signs of gender and racial bias.
On top of all this, the Trump Administration is looking to boost the export of U.S.-made AI chips as part of its strategy to outshine China in the AI race. With all these moves in the works, it’s no wonder all eyes are on the White House for what’s coming next. Stay tuned!
