Edge is trying to sway users away from Google Chrome, with tactics like banners highlighting that it runs on the same engine as Chrome and making it difficult for Windows users to set Chrome as their default browser. Now, a new poll from Microsoft takes this campaign a step further.
Microsoft’s Poll Targets Google Chrome Users
When users try to download Chrome, a poll will pop up asking why they are trying another browser. The options include difficulties searching Google, accessing Google documents, missing favorites or passwords, encountering too many ads and pop-ups, disliking the news feed, experiencing slow speeds, or facing compatibility issues with Microsoft Edge.
It’s worth noting that not all users see this poll, indicating it may be in a testing phase. While this survey may be seen as a bit pushy, it does not prevent users from downloading Chrome or other browsers like Firefox and Brave.
Overall, this move by Microsoft adds another layer to the ongoing battle for browser dominance, but ultimately leaves the choice in the hands of the users.
