Netflix fesses up to using AI in one of their shows

Netflix is embracing AI for visual effects in its latest projects. The streaming service used generative AI for scenes in the Argentine post-apocalyptic drama, “The Eternaut.” Instead of traditional VFX methods, the creators opted for AI tools to speed up the process significantly.

According to co-CEO Ted Sarandos, the use of AI resulted in impressive visual effects completed much faster than traditional methods. This move towards AI in production is not isolated to “The Eternaut,” as reports indicate that AI-generated ads will soon be featured for Netflix’s ad-tier subscribers.

However, not everyone in Hollywood is on board with this trend. The creative community is expressing concerns about the increasing use of generative AI in film production. Movies like “The Brutalist” and “Late Night with the Devil” faced criticism for their AI involvement, sparking debate within the industry and potentially impacting future negotiations.

Overall, the integration of AI in entertainment is a hot topic with both supporters and skeptics weighing in on its implications for the future of filmmaking.
