Messenger is finally getting default end-to-end encryption!

Great news for all Messenger users! Meta has announced that end-to-end encryption will now be the default setting for all personal messages and calls. This means that your conversations will be entirely private, with only the intended participants able to see what is being said. Even Meta itself won’t have access to the content of your messages, unless someone in the chat reports a message.

New Features in Messenger

But that’s not all! In addition to default encryption, Messenger is introducing a range of new features. Users can now edit sent messages within a 15-minute window, play voice messages at double speed, disable read receipts, and more. The app is also improving media sharing with better image quality and new layout options.

Enhancements in Disappearing Messages and Media Sharing

Disappearing messages now vanish after 24 hours by default and have a more user-friendly interface. Media sharing has also been upgraded with better quality and more response options. These features are currently being tested and will be available to a wider audience soon.
